The Horizons I’m Chasing: My Ultimate Travel Bucket List
A collection of the corners of the world I promise to see, and the stories drawing me to them.
Of everything I will ever publish on this site, this post is perhaps the most personal and holds the dearest place in my heart. It is a roadmap of curiosity, a permanent promise to myself to eventually explore at least these eight specific corners of our planet that capture my imagination.
Here are the places I wish to someday travel, and the reasons why they pull me there.
1. Iceland: The Dynamic Frontier
There are very few places on Earth where geological time feels active and alive right in front of your eyes. Iceland is a masterclass in elemental contrast where massive glacial ice sheets sit directly on top of tearing tectonic plates and volcanic fissures. I want to drive the Ring Road, witness the black sand beaches of Vik, and feel completely humbled by a landscape that is still actively painting itself.
2. Croatia: The Quintessential European Summer
There is a specific kind of energy found in a Mediterranean coastal summer that you can’t replicate anywhere else. Croatia sits at the absolute top of my list for this. I dream of winding through the historic, stone-walled alleyways of Dubrovnik, catching the ferry lines out to the islands of Hvar and Korčula, and spending long, unstructured afternoons diving into the deep blue waters of the Adriatic Sea.
3. Vietnam: A Tapestry of Chaos and Serenity
Vietnam represents a perfect collision of sensory experiences. I am drawn to the beautiful juxtaposition of its geography and history, from the dense, high-energy motorbike currents of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to the impossibly quiet, mist-covered limestone pillars rising out of Ha Long Bay. Combine that with a world-renowned, street-side culinary culture, and it becomes an essential journey of immersion.
4. Peru: Tracking Ancient Footsteps at Machu Picchu
The ancient world holds an undeniable gravity, and the Incan Empire’s architectural mastery is something I need to experience firsthand. To trek through the high-altitude trails of the Andes and watch the morning fog clear over the ruins of Machu Picchu is a definitive bucket-list moment. It’s a testament to human ingenuity and civilization built in absolute harmony with rugged, unforgiving geography.
5. Monaco: The Intersection of Glamour and Speed
Monaco is a fascinating anomaly, a tiny sovereign principality packed with immense wealth, dramatic cliffside architecture, and deep sporting history. As someone captivated by the precision, engineering, and sheer spectacle of Formula 1, standing along the iconic streets of Monte Carlo where cars push the absolute limits of physics is a non-negotiable dream.
6. Denmark & The Faroe Islands: Nordic Design Meets Raw Isolation
This destination is a story of two completely different paces of life. First, Copenhagen, Denmark, the global capital of minimalist architecture, cycling infrastructure, and urban design. Then, a flight north to the Faroe Islands: a dramatic, emerald-green archipelago slicing out of the North Atlantic. It is the ultimate study in how humans interact with space, from highly optimized modern cities to turf-roofed villages surrounded by sheer ocean cliffs.
7. Antarctica: The Great Quiet
Antarctica is the ultimate frontier. It is an entire continent devoid of cities, borders, or permanent human history, just absolute, silent scale. The desire to travel here stems from a craving for pure isolation. To cruise past towering, brilliant-blue icebergs and witness an ecosystem completely untouched by standard human development feels like the closest thing to visiting another planet.
8. Japan: The Masterclass in Dualities
Japan is a place where the future and the past don’t just coexist; they lean on each other. I want to experience the hyper-efficient, neon-soaked transit grids of Tokyo, and then take a bullet train into the absolute stillness of Kyoto’s bamboo forests and ancient shrines. From its meticulous attention to design detail to its deeply ingrained cultural philosophies, Japan is the final, essential chapter of the horizons I plan to chase.

Writing this list down makes these dream destinations feel less like abstract daydreams and more like concrete items on a future timeline. Our degrees and careers give us the tools to build a life, but it’s places like these, and the experiences they promise, that remind us why we build it.
